NCAA 11 Demo Impressions

NCAA 11I’ll start off by admitting that I don’t play a lot of video games. I own a Playstation 3, but hardly put it to use (especially considering what I payed for it in 2006). I am, however, a sucker for the cash cow that is EA Sports’ NCAA Football series. I love college football. I often question why I annually spend $60 on a game that, in all honesty, is in almost every way identical to the previous version. These personal faults aside, let’s take some time to exaggerate what’s “changed” in this years version.

Normally there are about 3 or 4 new additions to the game that EA really abuses in their marketing campaign. Whether it be Home Field Advantage or Icing the Kicker, there are always a few gimmicks added here and there. Most flop, but some manage to transcend the yearly iterations. This year they are claiming to replicate the many unique offensive styles that are present in the college game, as well as promising a significant boost in the lack luster presentation.

It’s hard to tell just by the demo whether or not the offensive variety is going to be a game changer or not. Honestly, I get the impression that they are simply labels attached to each team, as the playbooks seemed nearly identical to NCAA 10.
